Winter Track & Field Wows Everyone
The Bruins Boys and Girls Winter Track & Field teams had great success this season with the Boys team getting first in the conference and the Girls team placing 4th in the conference . By the end of the Boys Indoor Track & Field season, the boys had multiple recipients earning All Conference Honors and All County Honors. Kris Chambers (11th) and Paul Fleck (10th) earning All Conference Honors. Tristan Brown (11th) , Andrew Jean Charles (12th) , Daniel Concepcion (12th) , Anthony Byron (12th) , Jabari Higgins (12th) , Kenneth Bobb (12th) , Kevin Levy (12th), Jalen George (12th) , and Tyler Means (12th) earned All County Honors in their respective events. The season didn’t yet end for some of the boys on the team with Tyler earning All State Honors as a member of the intersectional relay at the 2023 New York State Indoor Championships, and Jalen George placing 9th. The following week, Weight Thrower Jalen George competed in the Nike Indoor National Championships in NYC on 3/10/23 and then flew to Boston for the New Balance Indoor Championship on 3/10/23 where he pushed his school record mark in the Weight Throw to 62 ft. 11 in. and placed top 20 in both competitions. Among Jalen George, the Boys Track & Field team had multiple boys finish their season with new school records, Anthony Byron (12th) in the 200m with a time of 23.12. Tristan Brown (11th) in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.83. And the boys 4x200m which consists of Daniel Concepcion, Anthony Byron, Andrew Jean Charles, and Tristan Brown with a time of 1:33.23.
The Girls Track & Field team had a stellar end to their season as well with multiple girls receiving All Conference, All County and State Titles. Malysse Williams (11th), Kelys Walker(11th) Ayanna Brown (12th), Gabriela Lucas (11th), Jenesis Bristol (11th), and Camdresa Davis (11th) ended their season earning All Conference Honors. Jillian Rickford (10th), Jahzara Emeli (10th), Sarah Doresca (10th), Breanne Barnett (9th), earned All County Honors, and an All State Title as they got first place in the 4x200m relay. They hold the school record in the 4x200m with a time of 1:41.17z, and they were the youngest relay team to compete at the State Championship. Sariah Doresca of the relay team earned another state title as she got first place in the 55m sprint. She also holds two school records, being the 55m with a time of 7.02, and in the 60m with a time of 7.59. The relay team had also qualified for the Track & Field New Balance Nationals on 3/11/23 where they ended their season.
