Bruins Win “White Out” Game

Varsity Football Team refueling their energy after playing with great intensity.

This past weekend, the Baldwin Bruins Varsity football team crushed the competition in their first home game of the season against Uniondale high school. For their first home game this season the team showed why they are a threat to look out for this year. The Bruins played excellent defense, never allowing Uniondale to score the entire game. The defense was led by seniors Lincoln Dacosta lll, Kwasi Bonsu, and juniors, Rodney Mills, and Jadis Chenet. Not only was the team’s defense on point the entire game, they scored an incredible 24 points over Uniondale. On the first play of the game, Senior Anthony Byron ran the ball over 30 yards to score their first touchdown of the game. This could not have been accomplished without the aggressive support of the offensive line who held down the fort.
As the game continued, the Bruins refused to let Uniondale get anywhere close to scoring. Kwasi Bonsu led the team to scoring another touchdown, which led to a two point conversion, enthralling the crowd to jump out of their seats cheering for the team. The support from the student section and the parents was amazing, with the majority of people who attended the game wearing white apparel. The theme of the game was a ¨white out”, to reenact the Penn State football teams’ tradition, which the Bruins carried out perfectly as they won by a crushing amount. The team certainly lived up to the expectation Baldwin had set. What a surreal experience to be a part of a strong culture, which will stay with this team the entire season.
