The Bruins Varsity Volleyball team was undefeated with a 14-0 season, heading into the playoffs. The girls worked so hard to receive that title and make it into the playoffs. With practice every day and competitive games, the girls came out on top for their season.
Senior outside hitter Kennedy Thompson led the team with the highest number of kills. Thompson came in 15th place in Nassau County, ending the season with 157 kills. Sabrah Folkes came in 2nd place for her number of aces in Nassau County, with 77 throughout the season. Thompson and Folkes also had the honor of being captains, along with Mia Randazzo.
During their playoff season, the team took victory over Farmingdale High School. They played an intense game, winning 3-2. The girls were leading with a win in the first set, but were defeated in the second set. They then went on to win the third and fifth sets to take home victory. The girls, along with Coach Nyugen, were so proud.
The team unfortunately fell short in the second round of playoffs against Plainview High School. The girls played to their best extent, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. The girls and Coach Nyugen, however, couldn’t be more proud of their outstanding performance during the season.
As a player on JV, I have learned and experienced so much with this team. We finished our season only facing defeat in two games, ending the season with a 14-2 record. Throughout the season, I looked up the varsity players and learned so much from them. Playing with JV has been such a blessing, and I’m aiming to play next year on the varsity team!
